If you do not want all your incoming emails to appear in eDesk you can set up filters from within your email client (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo etc.).
Before you start
- You’ll need an Admin login to eDesk. If you don’t have an Admin login, you can request one from an Admin user within your business.
- You’ll need to connect your email to eDesk using mail forwarding. To find out how to connect your email using mail forwarding, you can read the articles below.

01 Filter incoming emails from Gmail
1. Select the Settings cogwheel on the top right-hand side of the screen.
2. After that select the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab and Create a new filter.
3. Enter the details of the emails you would like to 'catch'
4. In the above example: any email that has @shopify.com in the From address AND has the word 'Order' in the subject will match your filter
5. Click Create filter
6. A pop-up will appear to select what happens to the messages that match the filter.
This will allow you to forward only certain messages to eDesk.
02 Filter incoming emails from Outlook
1. On the top bar, select the Settings cogwheel and click on View all Outlook settings.
2. Select Mail on the left-hand side then Rules → Add new rule.
3. Enter the details of the emails you would like to 'catch'.
4. Select the condition.
5. Add an action - Forward to - enter the forwarding address.
6. Click Save.
This will allow you to forward only certain messages to eDesk.
02 Filter incoming emails from Yahoo
- On the top bar, select the Settings cogwheel and click on More settings
- On the Yahoo Settings page, select the Filters tab.
- In the Your filters section, select + Add new filters.
- Fill in the form that appears to the right.
